Paul and I have been hosting international students since June 1999. We enjoy sharing Canadian culture with students and learning other culture as well. We believe that not only the students learn a great deal about the Canadian culture but our children, Jordan and Brian benefit a great deal from the students as well when they share about their own cultures.
I am a licensed practical nurse and Paul is a production worker. I work Monday to Friday from 8:30 to 4:30 and Paul’s work is a shift work.
We live in east Vancouver in a very quite and family oriented neighborhood. Our house is a 3 level home. We have 4 bedrooms available to students. Two rooms on the ground floor and the other two are on the top floor. The master bedroom and the children’s bedroom are on the main floor and our nanny, Kathy, occupies one bedroom on the ground floor. We have two bathrooms and two living rooms.
It takes approximately 30 minutes to get to downtown by bus and skytrain. The bus stop is 3 houses away from our house. Hastings community centre is walking distance and Rupert park is two blocks away.
In the summer time we spend most weekends in the park and on long weekends, we go camping. Dinner in the summer time is mostly barbeque on the balcony.
